First you gotta have an image you want to use.
Go hunting for an image, We have a few sites where we go to look for pics. We'll post a few links to some good sites where you can find good images to use for emoticons and avatars.

When you find an image that you like, you have to save it somewhere. My ISP provides us with storage space on the web where we can save the images to.
